Manitoba Fans to get first look at Bisons, Wesmen

Congratulations to both programs for seizing the opportunity to contribute back into the community while raising awareness of CIS basketball.

The Manitoba Bison men’s basketball team will play two exhibition games on Wednesday, August 12 before training camp for the 2009-10 season begins in September.

The games will be part of the first annual “Hoops From The Heart,” which takes place at the Investors Group Athletic Centre (U of M campus).

Both games will showcase the best of Manitoba basketball players, plus raise awareness and funds for two special causes.

Game one will have the University of Winnipeg Wesmen play against Western Canadian University/College All-Stars #1 at 6:30 p.m. Following the first exhibition basketball game, the Bisons will then host the Western Canadian University/College All-Stars #2 at 8:15 p.m. The All-Stars include players from several Canadian universities, with proceeds going to support heart research at St. Boniface General Hospital. Basketballs used in the games will later be donated to Inner City Kids Project.

Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for students at the door.
