Spartans Pounded Again in California

COUGARS TOO MUCH FOR SPARTANS

AZUSA, Calf. – The Trinity Western University men’s basketball team had their hands full Wednesday night as they fell 115-52 to the Azusa Pacific University Cougars at the Felix Event Center in Azusa, Calf.

The Cougars led 10-5 just over fifteen minutes into the contest, but then a 15-0 run over the next three minutes gave Azusa control of the game. The hometown Cougars continued to dominate the first half which ended with the Spartans trailing 61-21.

TWU had a much better second half, 54-31, but for much of the game the Spartans were over matched by the NAIA squad.

Lucas Goltz (Comox, B.C.) with 18 points and Michael Brouwer (Nanaimo, B.C.) with six points and seven rebounds led the Spartans, while Chidi Ajufo with 16 points and David Burgess with 14 points and 12 rebounds led the Cougars.

Next up for the Spartans is the weekend of Fri.-Sat., January 4-5 when they will open the second half of Canada West Conference play against the University of Victoria Vikes. Game time at TWU is set for 8 p.m. All TWU home games can be listened to live on Spartan Web Radio.
