Wayne Thomas Calgary/Canada West Report

Calgary 0-3 on California Tour

Trailing 48-35 at half-time against Biola University (La Mirada, CA) the Calgary Dinos could not close the gap in the 2nd, so, for the 3rd straight night, they are beaten by a Golden State Athletic Conference squad ... The Biola Eagles prevailed by a clear 80-65 margin, as the Dinos appeard leg weary in this contest, and had real trouble generating any consistent offensive attack. The Eagles shot 44% from the floor to 40% for Calgary, and the Dinos were out-rebounded 40-26 on the night.

Some good shooting by Andrew McGuinnes, who scored 14, all in the 1st half, and Josh Wolfram, 15 points on 4/6 from the field and 6/6 from the line. McGuinness hit 4/6 from 3 point range, and Wolfram grabbed 10 rebounds to lead both teams.

Tyler Fidler, who was in some foul trouble, scored just 9 points and had 1 rebound, while Boris Bakovic had 5 points and 3 rebounds in 17 minutes. The Dinos return home Saturday and will have to re-group as they prepare to travel to Fraser Valley and Trinity Western next weekend to re-start their Canada West season. With a record of 3-5 at the break, Calgary will have to find a winning formula early in the New Year if they are to get into the playoff picture.

at Azuza ... Azuza Pacific 74 Victoria 54 ... turning it over 28 times killed the Vikes offense. Michael Acheampong score 12 points, and he was the only Vikes player in double figures.

In Santa Barbara ... UBC 97 Trinity Int'l 60 ... The 'Birds outscored TIU 50-22 in the second half and Tommy Nixon led with 21 points and nine rebounds while Nathan Yu scored 17, Doug Plumb 15 and Malcolm Williams 13.

In Las Vegas ... Fresno Pacific 92 Lethbridge 67 ... Morgan Duce scored 17 and Niko Kovac 14, as FPU hit 58% from the field. All 10 Pronghorns dressed played at least 11 minutes.
